A Centre warden explains how to find fossils in rocks Join the Warden Team at the Centre for a whole day of fossil hunting and activities for families and children. Lots of fun for everyone!

 If you have ever wanted to try your hand at fossil collecting, then join us for a full day of fossil fun aimed specifically at families.

 

Our next Fossil Fantastic Day will be in the Autumn of 2013, dates to be confirmed.

 

 

 

Our Fossil Fantastic Days are a great introduction to all aspects of fossils and the Jurassic Coast aimed specifically at children and families. Places are limited so please contact us to check for availability.

The Centre is situated on England’s World Heritage Site 'Jurassic Coast' and right in the heart of fossil hunting country. We have been helping people enjoy the coast for over 20 years, with information on a wide range of subjects from fossils and geology to marine life and the surrounding countryside.

Who does it cater for?

Enthusiastic children and parents who want to discover more about fossils. Suitable for age 6 and above.

Information Pack

On receipt of payment the Centre will send you an information pack with directions, local accommodation and transport links, as well as information on what to bring, suitability of clothing for the day and health and safety information.

Lunchtimes

There are two pubs and a small café in the village (5– 10 min walk from the Centre) which serve both hot and cold food, or you are quite welcome to bring a packed lunch into the Centre. The Centre will provide you with a hot cuppa!

Accommodation

If you wish to make a weekend of it, there are many small B&Bs in the area and also hotel accommodation. If you wish to make enquiries beforehand, please find details of the two local Tourist Information Centres below:

Due to the outdoor nature of this event, the warden team reserve the right to adjust the programme in the event of adverse weather conditions. We operate a strict health and safety policy and all activities are fully risk assessed. The Centre is insured to carry out fieldwork and outdoor events.
