Charmouth is a historic settlement and popular sea-side village. It nestles comfortably within the West Dorset AONB and is an access point to the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast. It is perhaps most famous for the fossil that can be found on the beach (the village even boasts it's own unique dinosaur!) but it is also very popular with holiday makers and visitors for the flat sandy beach that is exposed at low tide. Charmouth is in easy reach of the old fishing port of Lyme Regis and the historic market town of Bridport, being situated just off the A35 between the two. Even though Charmouth is such a popular place to visit in the holidays it has retained a very strong community and identity of it's own offering many shops, several churches, doctors, dentists, hairdressers and primary school. Not forgetting of course the Heritage Coast Centre.
